Postby BeeZee » Fri Aug 31, 2018 10:16 am

I have a B&S 3hp and would like to know how many rpm's it is rated at. Getting 2 or 3 different answers (2800,3000,3600).

Model 80212
Type 4003-01
Code 89030303

Thank You, Bernie.

Generally depends on the application it is being used on,but common "standard" utility engines will run at 3600 RPM. Generators typically 3750 RPM, Lawnmowers depends on the blade length but anywhere from 2800-3300 - Wider cut/ longer blade= slower RPMs (blade tip speed) So it all depends on the application it is being used for.

This particular engine (type 4003-01) originally specified for a Top No-Load Speed: 2600 RPM but as noted depending on the application they can be spec'd for anywhere from 1800 to 3800 RPM depending on application.

This engine is used on a Fimco 50 gallon sprayer with a Hypro 4101 pump rated at a max. rpm of 2600 (I finally found the documentation for this sprayer. It was suppose to be under the "S" but found it under the "F". Wife got in there a couple of months ago and rearranged things, grrrr....).

The problem I am having is getting the pressure up to 40 psi.. I can only get around 25 psi.. I have changed the rollers in the pump but doesn't seem to solve the problem. Maybe I have an air leak somewhere? No liquid is leaking.

When I first bought it in 1989, I could get 60 psi. with no problems but I like to run it at 40 psi..
