Briggs Ruixing Fuel bowl alternative

Postby KE4AVB » Tue Feb 26, 2019 8:19 am

For those that might be interested. If you're needing to replace the fuel bowl on the Briggs Ruixing PN 593599 carburetor and these are prone to water damage (corrosion holes).

The Brigg PN 797631 fuel bowl kit is which is fairly expensive @ $20 -$25 you can use the Walbro 20-141 fuel bowl and 92-294 bowl gasket as alternative for about a quarter to a fifth of the cost being your parts discounts. Just means you need to order by two part numbers instead one part number. For me I don't see any reason to be stocking a $20+ part when the Walbro set costs under $5.

Thanks. It looks like my supplier has both. Took some searching for the gasket. They say their bowl and gasket is equivalent to Briggs 796611.
And wow, repairclinic sells both those oem kits. 797631 is 26$ and 796611 is only 6$. How could 2 basically same looking kits, a bowl and gasket, be 20$ different? Is one gold coated?

The 796611 is not fully compatiable, for if you application is using a fuel solenoid there is no accessibility to the flats on the solenoid. I done ran into that problem where someone had use the 796611 to the 797631; I had to destroy the fuel solenoid to get the bowl off because they screw the bowl gasket upon installation.

Just be aware that the Briggs 493640 doesn't supersede to the Walbro 20-141 or the Briggs 797631 but to the Briggs 796611; however you can use the 20-141 or 797631 to replace it. I just over the weekend imported all the Briggs PNs, supersedes, and retail/cost prices into my accounting system from my Briggs Power Distributor. It took 18 hrs but I got it done.

EDIT: But if using the Walbro 20-141 to replace the 493640 double the float operation as the 493640 may be needed for float clearance of opening and closing of the needle valve.
