My cheat sheet says any of the following PNs will work.

398811/395492/398265/697037/397358

Ok Thanks

Just for my own info, question.
I seen in some places it was mentioned that the OLD cast iron Briggs blocks when converting to electronic ign mags the flywheel magnet required re-polarizing and required shipping to Briggs for such. Is that still a requirement or will the coils you listed also work on the cast iron Briggs engine W/O requiring re-polarizing?

Those that required re-polarizing the flywheel before will still need it with current 398811 ignitions... that never changed, never will, obviously, no way to switch polarity of the coils, so its gotta be a magnet switch

However, I'm fairly certain that those are so few and far between these days, it'd be a rare event to come across one.

I converted one recently with just the new coil. It was a 78 I think aluminum.

I had this 397358 coil in stock and it won't fit the 8 HP briggs engine. The mounting holes are approx. 2 1/4 inches Center to Center and the coil I need requires 2 1/2 inchs center to center.

Appears maybe the 2 1/4 inch hole spacing coil is for a 5 and the 7-16 hp uses the 398811???

Maybe one of my vendors superseded the 398811incorrectly. The 398811 is a current part number per my recent price list update so I make a change to my cheat sheet.
