Honda GCV160 on a LawnBoy coil

Postby jwales » Mon Aug 05, 2019 12:04 pm

I have two lawnboy mowers each with Honda GVC160 engine the one that runs, ends in ARTL-1 (coil part# is 30500-Z8B-903) the other mower motor ends in ASTL-1 and has a bad coil (coil part # is 30500-ZL8-004).
So my question is could I swap coils to see if the ASTL-1 will run?...... and/or could it do damage to the mower or coil? Also is there really any difference between these two as they look similar?

Why all the questions, is because the 30500-ZL8-044 coil is more than double the cost of the 30500-Z8B-903 coil.

Thanks for your thoughts.

It won't hurt anything. Honda assigns different part numbers depending on the supplier.
