Need a carb for a Briggs engine????

Postby Arkie » Sun Mar 15, 2020 12:36 pm

Briggs model 133432, type, 0036-01, code 93033027

parts lists shows 495652 DISCONTINUED or BS-495652

Seems strange that not even a clone type will show?????

Anyone have any type of cross reference???

Was donated this good complete low hours engine missing the carb. (because they said they could not find a replacement carb) so they bought a $100 HF Predator as a replacement engine.

Kinda strange because I have Briggs engines several years older than this engine and can still find replacement carbs, even easily cross referenced clones. :o :o

It would require at least the choke vane, choke shaft, throttle shaft, and main jet change outs.

Briggs 5 hp engine listed above that carb is no longer available is now a Tecumseh/Briggs Frankenstein engine.

Found one of these old Tecumseh adjustable jet Carbs in my box of old carbs, bolted right up onto the 5 HP Briggs engine manifold listed above, Governor linkages fit with no mods and worked great. :o
Had to use the little round Tecumseh air filter housing that was on the HS type Tecumseh engines.

The Tecumseh stuff that I used was the old OEM USA made non china covid 19 stuff.
If it were the China type parts I would have sprayed it with alcohol and a strong bleach solution from a distance while wearing a respirator before getting close to the parts.
Seen on news where the covid 19 can maybe live for a few days on cardboard. :o

I remember a guy called T-man from the old Perr forums. He was a Tecumseh specialist and really proud of the Tecumseh engines.
I just hope I did not shame him very much by using old Tecumseh parts on a Briggs engine. ;)

Just don't go bonkers but do use common sense. It like any other disease, you must take care but just don't over do it and panic. I got a neighbor that is scared to death because of the news. I told to just turn off the television set.

Personally I just keep doing what I have always done to be safe but I am not going out by buying tons of hand sanitizers or masks. I am going to keep on working and not worry what could happen. As far as PT I know to use alternatives if needed. I also know not to use three leaf stuff and pine cones.

PS even if Torland issues orders for me to stay home they not stopping me from working.

I read that appliance repair people are considered essential. As well as people that support agriculture. There's your permission slip.
I've seen a couple of folks at wits end about the whole thing. Sad.
