What makes Scag 481022 so special?

Postby SUKI » Thu Nov 26, 2020 2:30 pm

I was looking to rebuild a Scag today after finally getting the 38mm socket. I was creating a PO for the bearing set. Boy isn't Scag proud of the L44649/L44610 cone bearing set at $46.71 ea. and it takes two for each spindle. Stens was a little better at $14.24 but my normal bearing supplier has them for $4.13 ea set.

What is the Scag bearing made of? Gold?

Hi Suki

I just ran into a similar situation with a 1989 John Deere TRS-24 snow blower. The impeller shaft bearing was worn out, JD wanted almost $80.00 for the AM115158 bearing, Laser has the same bearing 95479 for less than $20.00 retail and I even had one in stock. Unit now fixed and ready to go home :D .

You just found out you are smarter than the OEM thought you was. Boy they hate us that use our mind instead just falling for their con job. They do tend to forget their part source pn are laser etch into the bearings.
