John Deere LX255

Postby lefty » Sun Apr 04, 2021 8:34 pm

I was given this machine recently. There is a module under the dash. I'm assuming it's for a couple of dummy lights on the dash. I've never seen a board on a tractor before but I haven't been around for as long as most of you. There appears to be a resistor or something on the board that is fried. The battery light stays on. It does not appear to affect the function of the machine. Am I correct in assuming that it's not that important? Or do I need to replace it. It's pretty expensive and if it is not really doing anything important, I'd rather not replace it. I'm also capable of replacing the component if anyone thinks that's an option. Everything still works; Headlights, starts fine, etc.

Mod LX255
ID: MOL255B011048

Thank you.

An LX255 can have a battery discharge module, AM126691 is the number I keep. There are serial number breaks on some that don't have it though. It's easier to Google the module and look under the hood and see if you have it. :)

The one I have is AM132500. It's like a little circuit board. They're calling it a starter ignition switch module.

It is call "Ignition Interlock Circuit Board". It is rather complicated setup that can be bypass with enough knowledge and rewiring. But I would not attempt it; unless, you are very good at reading electrical schematics. Here is the schematic of just the cranking circuit showing the internal layout of the circuit board. The only difference is that this diagram show two ignition coils where your should have one ignition coil as you should have a single cylinder Kohler engine. Also be aware the seat switch circuit is hot (12vdc active).
