B&S 31G777-0235-G5 on John Deere D100. How do I test the fuel pump to see if the diaphragm is ruptured or leaking?

Should only need to plug to outlet fuel side and using a tank of fuel or water suspended above the pump. Fuel best as it is thinner but be careful with open flames and sparks if using fuel. Then you look for the fuel or water coming out the vacuum (pulse) port and/or out the pump vent port.

So far in 12 yrs I have only changed two of these vacuum operated pumps. One when I first started full time repairing mowers and the other just this weekend where it would when disconnected from carburetor but not provide enough fuel to run the engine.
The truest measure of society is the how it treats its elderly, its pets, and its prisoners.
