Briggs OHV hanging on compression

Started working on a Briggs OHV single cyl that hangs on compression, had this problem many times, it's always the exhaust valve gap is to wide. Checked it and gap is right on, my thoughts are that's the tiny spring in the compression release or something inside on the compression release. Your thoughts. Thanks

Well if it is a 310000 or 330000 series and valves are set correctly the ACR on the camashaft is broken and is very common problem. BTW the ACR bump on these engine is on the Intake. (lower rocker).

I would think that the online marketeers bought up extras due to last year's availability issues. But then again, they also like to play the game of saying they are having it in stock hoping to have it drop shipped. If you order, let us know if they came through for you.
