I have this machine in the shop.
Garden Way
Model: 47287
Serial 472871104839
Engine: 192437-1125-E1 990701Y0
I have a bad starter. The starters I'm finding don't appear to have the proper mounting flange. I'm finding 498149 as a starter. The thing about this flange is that it lowers the starter so it will fit and clear the chipper chute.
The schematic I'm finding is here: https://shop.briggsandstratton.com/pages/parts-lookup#/Briggs_%26_Stratton/192437-1125-E1/Electric_Starter%2c_Flywheel%2c_Rewind_Guard/1924371125E1/04370006D/y
There are two starters shown and the flange is sold separately (shown as 801A) and doesn't appear to come with the starter or be available at all. The starters I'm finding have a mounting flange but they don't appear to be the same and would mount the starter in a position that it wouldn't fit...I think. The problem is that I think my starter is bad because there is a bunch of play in the bushing on the flange. It's pressed in there and doesn't appear to be a part that can be replaced as it looks like it comes with the flange, which I can't find. I'm wondering what my next move is. The brushes and everything else on the starter look fine. Just a bunch of play and a chunky rotation.
