not cut off but not properly printed either. However if you look at the tag above it you'd see the complete model number (Mfg #) Typical MTD, quality control guy says "Nah... Good enough"

helps to know that a snowblower model will start with 31x

I used to have a cheat sheet of the prefixes such as 11 = walk behind 12 = self propelled 13 = lawn tractor, 14 = yard / garden tractor, 17 = zero turn, 21 = chore performers 31 = snowblowers, 41 = handhelds .. if I remember correctly...

has it got the combination chute up/down and around control lever? Friend had one that broke and replacement was over $200. I was able to fix the plastic piece that broke.

I was going to get the kit to replace the pinion gear and the parts that hold it and put it on. The kit appears to come with a gear with 16 teeth while the original appears to have 24 teeth. Are these interchangeable or do I need one with 24 teeth?

Thanks.

Lefty, Just which engine do you have? Model number help to lookup parts.

I have yet to see a 24 tooth starter setup here. Only seen 14, 15, and 16 and none of them interchange. And I pretty sure 16 tooth will not replace a 24 tooth.

Yeah if you are talking about electric start, especially for the powermore engines, I doubt you'll find any repair kits at all - especially for most 120v electric starters, manufacturers don't want the liability so they don't make repair possible - only replacement of bad starters. However I'm sure there's plenty enough chinese sellers with no scruples that will sell you repair kits for most of the honda-knock-off engines built in china.....

Sorry. I thought I had posted it in the original post but I was mistaken.

192437-1125-E1

The parts list shows a kit for the bendix assembly so I was looking that part number up. But it kept coming up with 16 teeth.

Maybe I have some in my junk pile of starters.

Thanks.

According to the IPL the engine has an aluminum ring gear. IF so then it is the 16 tooth plastic gear that is used. The 14 tooth will only eat up the ring gear. Where when a 16 tooth plastic gear is used on a steel ring gear the gear is eaten up.

Also pay attention to the IPL as there are three different Starter Bendix listed.

But looking at the IPL I do see a 24 tooth gear use the starter that has 4-3/8 Housing. That complete Bendix is PN 495878. Which uses the 692353 gear. Just note that gear will fit all three 692024 starter clutch/drives.
