Tecumseh carburetor for Tecumseh LEV80

Been pulling my hair out lately working on a Yardman Trimmer (Yardmachine 18" Trimmer S30508AC with a with a Tecumseh LEV80 Tecumseh engine.
I've tried to replace the carburetor, the old one was trashed...but I couldn't find one that would fit! The problem is, the fuel line elbo is sticking out too far and hitting the block of the engine and not allowing it to be bolted onto the intake manifold. I have pulled out the pressed in elbo and cut it down enough to fit which I think will work. Have any of you had this problem with older machines? The original carb had a nylon elbo that was much closer to the carburetor and fit fine but even buying an OEM, it still came with a too long elbo! Also, where does the governor link go on this carburetor...I have it marked where I put it but I see no reference in my Tecumseh book...

Without the spec number it is just a guessing but it looks you brought an after market carburetor. Sorta like this one. All of the Tecumseh carbs that fit the LEV80 series appears not to have this style of fitting.

If so you might change it out to nylon elbow. All depends on the hole size. From what I see in the image it might be smaller than the Tec fitting so measure it as a Brigg fitting might fit.

When I get to the shop I can measure the diameter of the TEC fitting I have in stock. I seen it a couple days ago so at I know I have it.

As where the link goes look at your carburetor and there should a wear mark.

If those elbows are pullable and replaceable I havelots of old mowers with tec engines. I think the briggs a elbows are still available. Not sure of tecumseh.

Tec 632537 632527 is still available. Mounting is .375 with an offset of .775 (surface to outer edge)

Briggs 692317 is still available. Mounting .280 with an offset of .565

I guess I thought I got an OEM...but you're probably right, I didn't! Hey, KE4AVB...do you know which hole the governor link goes in on the carburetor? I marked the hole with a White Arrow that I use but I'm not sure it's right...my Tecumseh book doesn't really specify...

I believe that you will be installing it in the correct hole on the throttle plate. See the attached video. As far as your carb being OEM or aftermarket: If you paid like $ 20.00 (or less) for it you got an aftermarket for sure. I have found these aftermarket carbs to be kind of a hit-or-miss situation. About 50% of the ones i have purchased do not run right, or leak (or BOTH). At their low cost, however, it is worth the shot and does not break the bank.

Thanks for your response! Ok, the linkage goes into that hole I have marked...thank you... I actually cut down the existing 90 deg fuel barb and was able to get it to seat deeper into the carburetor so it will fit now...

Pretty sure it will run...when I tried the first time after cutting down the 90 elbo, it leaked a little but it ran, even though way too fast which is why I was asking about the governor linkage...I have cut it a little more and have sealed it. I'll have it on tomorrow...was working on septic tank today.

Well I know someone I not coming to see for a while. What a stinky mess to work on...Only cleaned two tanks in my life and hope never need to it again.
