Leaky Toro CCR 2450 Snow Thrower

Postby Dale_W » Mon May 08, 2023 3:46 pm

model: 38515
serial: 220010440
Briggs engine

This has the plastic carb with a cork float. When look down the air intake, I see gasoline pooling in the carb.
The gasoline level is higher than the bowl gasket so that is where it is seeping out.

I could maybe order a new needle. Not sure if that is my problem.
How do I tell it the float is set too high?

Thanks

Thank you for the speedy reply. I measured the float as shown in the picture and it was spot on 1/2".
I inspected the rubber tip and was happy to find it was partially coated with residue.
I figured if I cleaned the tip and seat, the carb would stop leaking.
However, an overnight test proved that the carb still leaks, although slower than before.

Looks like the needle and seat is Briggs part number 801317.

Would this be your next step?

Thank you

With that type of screw in seat I would like to an inverted pressure test with a little soapy water around the seat area. It is probably where the needle sits but could be leaking pass the threading too.

Reference Part image.

Just a follow up. I installed the new seat and needle. 12 hours so far and no leaks.
The engine seems to start and run as it should.
I'll let it sit for a day or two to be sure there is no seeping of gas, but I think I can call this one done.

Thank you for your help.
