Robin / Subaru Closure

Postby KE4AVB » Fri Nov 08, 2024 4:44 pm

Any body less have heard the news that Subaru is closing their parts warehouse? My RBI RBI sent me an email stating that they are shutting December 20. As far as he knows this is a permanent closure since Suzuki Small engine division sold out several years ago to Yamaha. When I checked the Yamaha site none the PNs I entered showed up as valid part numbers.

Nope, have not heard anything - But then I've been out of the game for 5 years now. Last I knew of I got Subaru parts from distributor (J.E. Landis) and parts lookups were on the Subaru Robin dealer website (I think it was administered by a third party) In my experience, those engines were not all that much different from the other honda clones, many parts interchanged. I rarely had any Subaru engines to work on though, sold a couple for re-powers, (Could have just as easily fitted in a HF Predator) Most of it was Industrial (Wacker-Neussen usually had Subaru engines, as I recall.. and many other construction equipment items such as cement mixers and the like) and usually they got ran hard and beat to hell long before the engines needed much service, and it was cheaper for those construction companies to just buy a new machine and throw the other in their boneyard, where it served for a parts machine until it was ultimately sent to scrap recycling.

Most the equipment is pretty throw aways too except for one Subaru Trail Wagon with a 650 engine. I probably nee to call him and let him to get rid of that side by side (UTV) before he has more engine problems.
