I found my trick, a battery charger under the hood over night to keep a solid charge on it, NV, you only had a stumble? Mine flat out falls on it's face, and barely runs well enough to get it moving. Once she's warm though, no issues, but it did make some really odd noises this morning-

I know you said it's not the battery, but if a charger left on overnight solves your problem, it sure points to the battery being the cause. Also, it's always good to remove and clean the connections at the battery terminals, starter, grounds, etc. I've found that this can help, even when they look clean and tight.

Over the years, I had a 78 B210 and my parents had two 79 210s. Those cars always started here in the SD winters, even when other cars wouldn't.

I seem to recall having an issue one time with getting the choke set correctly on mine, but not sure on the details. Something to verify, anyway. Of course, with any car, having a good tune up always helps with cold-weather starting.

well right now, it's down and out for the count, I had to replace the thermostat. When I pulled the housing off, and started to clean it, I noticed a crack, and what I thought to be silicone was actually JB Weld. Well, as usual, I noticed the problem and the ignorant engineering repair failed. Now I cannot find the housing, well I did, but it does have some nasty corrosion I'm gonna have to take care of, but other wise, it looks to be clean, and best of all, I see no silicone or JB Weld or anything that looks like that any where on the housing.

Some of the old farmers in Iowa would build a fire under the pan on their tractors that sat out in the cold. That would heat the oil so it would start. Also the fire was to warm themselves with while waiting. Old school but worked. Carl

Carl, see you finally joined. How are you, fine I hope. Hows the weather down there in FL? When I was in the trucking business with my late father-in-law, we used a galvinzed wash tub and charcoal with a canvas tarp wrap around the front end to heat the engine oil and block, on the semi tractors that did not have electric plug end block heaters.
