just got through replacing the motor coupling in a 1999 kenmore washer. the washer is a "direct drive" type machine. no belt. the control panel flips back ( after removing 2 screws ) and there's two clips to remove and the cabinet comes off now everything is accessible. 2 clips and the pump comes off 2 screws and clips and the motor comes out. then you r&r the coupling and reassemble. not too shabby! replaced the water hoses and it was done, only took 9 hours. only kidding took 2 hours me and my son, and we had lunch too. wife thinks we'r something special ha! TOM.

Then ya got time to clean my garage......not even considering the shop at this point.

I hate working on appliances. I replaced a drum bearing in a dryer, won't try that again. Had an awful time trying to get the drum to run true.

my son and I replaced the coupling like I said but first there was this. a few months after we bought the machine in 1999 a small nylon sock somehow got into the pump and it cracked and started leaking. I, being a " small engine mechanic" thought I could fix it "no sweat" instead of taking the machine apart like it should be done I removed the back panel and disassembled the whole thing to gain access to the pump. I had to pry the ends of the" special clips " and do alot of extra work to get the job done I had that thing all apart my wife never thought I'd get it back together. but after alot of work I did, that was 16 years ago. the other day when the washer stopped working I went on the internet and found out how to fix it the right way, some guy demonstrated how easy it was to remove the cabinet and r&r the coupling. those 2 "special clips" I pried out spent the last 16 years in the junk drawer in the kitchen. I put the cabinet back on with 6 drill point sheet metal screws. I threw those clips out only 6 months ago. so I ordered 2 more clips and now its "stock" again. I learned every job has it's experts and there was'nt a spark plug in this thing so I was'nt the expert. laugh at me! TOM.

Did you make a video of that so that us under used repairmen can see if we want to tackle a job of that size.
