Split Lock Washers

You guys use those? I know they're suppose to put upward pressure
on the screw head, but sometimes after removing a screw, the lock
washer will be almost flat. Sometimes I re-bend them to make them
somewhat like new again, but they flatten out after the first re-use.

I think you are right. They don't make them out of good spring steel. I guess that is why lots of people use loctite of different grades.

Cheaper is not always better. Thanks China

use 'em all the time - and always where they are supposed to be used.. Ive seen the problem of which you speak and it is usually cheap import hardware that "looks" right but functionally is useless. we'll replace them with known quality brand hardware. only problem is, stocking up on it at the hardware store, costs an arm and a leg, for the same amount of money we can buy a box of 100 or 1000 from wholesaler - but then we've got so many on hand now, probably won't run out for 20-30 years. I am almost tempted to start up a second ebay store - just for hardware.. :bricks:
