Fuel system question

Postby lefty » Sat Nov 30, 2024 2:34 pm

I have this Generac gen in my shop. Power plus 5000. It's an older one with a 10HP briggs flat head.

It is the typical typical set up with the big gas tank up top. The tank is well above the carb but it has a fuel pump. I was confused by this. Why would it have a pump if it was gravity?

generator model 09856-0
Briggs 19G412-0129-01 Code: 960327YE

They had their reason for it. One thing that stands out it the carb needle valve is a pump fed version. So basically they are using a pump fed carb on that engine probably due how electrical demand can suddenly surge and overwhelm a gravity fed system.
The truest measure of society is the how it treats its elderly, its pets, and its prisoners.
