Just repowered an ariens mower for a friend. 16.5 hp 31 series. Running at 3190. Should I up that , especially since he insists on wasting his time with a bagger?

Without knowing the full model and type number I would say it is in the ball park. You could safely bump it another 200 rpm but no more to ensure adequate cooling and long life.

For a rider, I'd probably bump it up to 3600 , unless you're really paranoid about safety standards, then I'd look it up by model-type-serial for the exact figure.

Thanks. Bit hard getting to governor spring tab but now at 3400 so I'll leave in there.
