MTD Part Number Needed

Postby Skywatcher » Tue Apr 08, 2014 12:29 pm

Greetings All

Does anyone have the part number for a MTD front axle retainer and its retaining screws on a 2010 walk behind lawn mower? The retainer attaches to the underside of the plastic front axle support that attaches to the front end of the mower deck

I've looked on Partstree but could not find any referrence to this part. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks and all the best,

Sky

If you go to the MTD parts site here: http://www.mtdparts.com/equipment/mtdparts and enter yer numbers, a "parts rep chat" box usually will pop up. Just ask them.

they don't come separately as far as I know - have to get the whole front cover assembly - The screws themselves are P/N 710-04995A

You might could use nylon cable ties to cinch the axle in place , drill a couple holes and presto! I had a unit in that kept spitting out the metal clips that held the drive shaft up in the POS plastic housing on a front drive SP, Couldn't get the clips, so I used the ol' cable tie trick. I tried using duct tape, but it kept getting all wound up!!!

Gentlemen

Thank you for your answers. The complete front cover from MTD is less than $10.00 but it will be backorderd so don't know how long it will take to get here. Thanks again and all the best,

Sky
